Renee Was Sober Today! (Wednesday)

Renee was sober today! Just as I had promised I took Renee and her friend out for some "fried Chicken." It really was a blessing to be able to see their faces as they ate. We went to a buffet style restauraunt and as soon as we went in they started gazing at all the food available. It was a sad thought that because of the hold of sin in their lives they do not get to enjoy the "fruits of their labours." All the money they come by is spent on their addiction. The food most people eat on the streets is very unhealthy. I watched Renee eat her breakfast this morning, she had an old package of crackers and some potato chip dip. I watched as she fought with a man over it. After we ate at the restauraunt for lunch Renee did express that she wanted to dry out and go into a rehab. If anyone knows of one that they would recommend please pass the information on to me. You can leave it in the comments section at the end of this post. I know of a few, but they may not be structured enough for Renee. Renee needs a sound Bible foundation that she can grow in. She has what sounds like a Pentecostal, or a Non-Denominational background. Renee needs the Lords help but I wonder if she is willing? I can pray for her, witness to her, demonstrate Christ before her, but besides that, I don't know what to do. Their are so many "programs" and "ministries" out there that prey on the desperation of people like Renee. What do I mean by this? They so badly want to make a success story out of someone like Renee and sincerely want to help them that they are willing to be taken advantage of only to cause more harm than good. We must remember that even the "Prodical Son" had to come to himself. It is strange that the "Father" never went out looking for the son. But the Father waited patiently for the son to come to him. True Repentance can only come after you try all your ideas and still fail! You admit you were wrong when you finally see who you have offended and hurt. Then your heart is ready to change! Does this bar us from helping them, no. But it does limit us to how much we can help them. Because if we help them to much, we are not helping them at all. What a hard decision it is to make to determine how much is to much help. This kind of discernment I believe can only come from the Lords leading and sadly, many mistakes.
